Description
We found this set on a trip near Brisbane, offered up by a local mining company. No one I think realizes the amount of sapphires that are mined in Australia. I think they do more mining of (in quantity) than most other countries. They general all end up in the Asian cutting shops in Bangkok or Mumbai, and the stones are then used in many cases for the “fast food” chain jewelers. So many of the mall shops need inexpensive sapphire to produce mass market rings, earrings, etc and so the inexpensive ones with the inky color from Australia help fill this bill, and the good ones they rebrand as Sri Lankan for sale.
This set though is a much higher quality and where actually cut near Brisbane. They have a stunning sparkle, brilliance and blue green teal color (predominantly blue). Price listed is for the set of 4. The total weight of the 4 is 1.03 carats, with each stone measuring 3.75mm at the diameter
